Common Questions During Covid-19

Do you need to complete your first aid and CPR training? Below are some common questions answered for in-person training during the COVID-19 health crisis.

Q: Are first aid classes running during the lockdown?

A: Yes! Health and Safety training has been included as an essential service to continue in Ontario during the lockdown.

Q: Is an in-person course safe to attend?

A: Yes! At 3Silhouettes First Aid Training we have taken every measure and precaution to keep our community safe and healthy and to meet the COVID-19 safety guidelines directed by Public Health and government officials. For example, we have reduced class sizes to meet physical distancing requirements; placed arrows and markings on the floor to indicate safe distances from others while entering or leaving the training centre; invested in additional equipment so everybody gets their own set of supplies, so there is no sharing of anything; and, we even created new strategies for how to practice the skills to eliminate the need to work directly with a partner. Of course, you can also expect everyone to be wearing a mask and frequently cleaning their hands.

Q: What can I do if my certificate has already expired?

A: To accommodate the ongoing COVID-19 situation and the impact on in-person training, certificates that expire between March 1, 2020, and March 1, 2021, can attend a recertification* course until March 31, 2021. This extended window will allow those with expired certifications the opportunity to recertify with more flexibility due to limited class availability.

*To qualify for a recertification you must hold a certificate from an original course. If you already have a recertification the full course is required no matter when you expire.

Q: I am not comfortable attending an in-person class during the lockdown. Can I complete the training online?

A: To receive a WSIB approved temporary certificate you can complete an online component in preparation for a future in-person class. The practical skills component still must be demonstrated at a later date to receive full re-certification or certification.
